Brocco Shoots
Research by Professor Ian Rowland of the University of Ulster has shown that regularly eating our tasty sprouts has a protective effect against DNA damage, which is associated with cancer risks. Eating broccoli sprouts during pregnancy may provide your kids with life-long protection against cardiovascular disease, according to a research team led by Bernhard Juurlink at the University of Saskatchewan.
Research by Dr Paul Talalay of the Johns Hopkins University Medical School showed that the high levels of sulforaphane found in broccoli sprouts helps the body in mobilising its natural cancer fighting resources. Studies have demonstrated that broccoli sprouts contain up to 50 times the concentration of sulforaphane compared to mature broccoli. Researchers have isolated compounds from the vegetable broccoli that they believe may help prevent or slow the progress of bladder cancer. Compounds in broccoli may supercharge the body's ability to mop up free
radicals and so protect against high blood pressure, stroke and heart
disease, according to research led by University of Saskatchewan health
scientist Bernhard Juurlink. This is a very technical one - research into the direct effect of broccoli sprouts on human health. It shows that brocco sprouts help cholesterol levels. Another technical one which shows that broccoli shoots may be useful in protecting the retina. Research showing the high antioxidant capacity of Alfalfa sprouts. Research into alfalfa's role in prevention of menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis, cancer and heart disease. Research into
alfalfa and clover high in phytoestrogens that may help against menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis, cancer and heart disease. |
